Who we are

Scope

This policy explains how Preserve Signal collects, uses, shares, retains and protects personal information when you visit our website, contact us, create an account, purchase a membership or use the Preserve Signal platform.

Information we collect

We may collect information you provide, including your name, email address, company, job title, contact form messages, account details, newsletter choices, saved projects, invited users and other information you submit while using Preserve Signal.

We may also collect technical and usage information, such as browser type, device information, pages visited, approximate location, referring pages, log data, security events and general usage activity.

Why we use information

We use personal information to provide and administer Preserve Signal, create and secure accounts, respond to messages, process memberships, manage billing, deliver requested alerts and communications, improve the service, prevent misuse, maintain business records and comply with legal obligations.

Legal bases for processing

When the General Data Protection Regulation applies, we process personal information under one or more of these legal bases:

• Contract: to create and administer your account, provide a membership, process payments and deliver requested platform features.
• Legitimate interests: to respond to inquiries, operate and improve the service, maintain security, prevent fraud and understand basic service performance, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
• Consent: for newsletters and other marketing communications when consent is required, and for any optional analytics cookies if they are introduced in the future. You may withdraw consent at any time.
• Legal obligation: to comply with tax, accounting, law-enforcement and other applicable requirements.

Payments

Payment information is handled by our payment processor. Preserve Signal does not intend to store full credit card or bank account numbers on its own systems. Stripe or another payment provider may process payment information, billing details and transaction data under its own privacy and security practices.

Email and newsletter

We may send account, billing, security and service messages needed to provide Preserve Signal. Newsletters and other marketing emails are optional. Where consent is required, we will not add you to marketing communications unless you choose to subscribe. You may unsubscribe or change your preferences at any time without affecting essential account messages.

Cookies and local storage

Preserve Signal currently uses only necessary browser storage to operate the site, protect the service and retain user-requested settings, such as saved projects. Necessary storage does not require consent where applicable law permits.

We do not currently use optional analytics cookies or similar technologies. If that changes, we will update this policy and request consent before enabling them when required. You can review this information through Cookie Settings in the footer at any time.

Project intelligence and public sources

Preserve Signal’s project intelligence is compiled from public and open-source records, including owner websites, public databases, capital and strategic plans, budgets, grant announcements, meeting records and procurement systems. Public-source project information is distinct from private customer account information, although Preserve Signal may organize and analyze it through the platform.

Who receives information

We may share personal information with service providers that help us operate hosting, email, payments, analytics, security, customer communications, newsletter delivery and spam prevention. They may process information only as needed to provide their services or meet legal obligations. We do not sell personal information.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights or safety, or in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition or sale of all or part of the business, subject to appropriate protections.

International transfers

Preserve Signal is based in the United States, and information may be processed in the United States or other countries where our providers operate. When required, we use recognized safeguards for international transfers, such as adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses or another lawful transfer mechanism.

How long we keep information

Contact form messages are normally retained for up to 24 months after submission. Account information is generally kept while an account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to resolve issues and maintain required records. Billing and transaction records may be retained as required by tax, accounting and other laws. Security logs and consent records are retained only as reasonably needed for security, compliance and dispute resolution.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No website, database, email system or internet service can be guaranteed to be perfectly secure.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of or deletion of your personal information; restrict or object to processing; receive certain information in a portable format; and withdraw consent at any time.

You may also object to processing based on legitimate interests and may lodge a complaint with the data-protection authority in the country where you live or work. You will not be discriminated against for exercising a privacy right. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. When GDPR applies, we normally respond within one month, subject to extensions permitted by law.

Children

Preserve Signal is intended for business users and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 or knowingly offer the service directly to children in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Preserve Signal or applicable law changes. We will post the updated version here and revise the date above. Material changes may also be communicated through the service or by email when appropriate.
